I've always enjoyed creating art. It started as a child when I loved acting and singing and then went on to become an actress in NYC. Later, once I became a mother, acting and singing didn't make sense for me anymore. At that time, after spending 6 years as a stay-at-home mom, I turned my creative nature around and became a realtor in the lovely area of Maplewood/South Orange NJ. This part of NJ is full of gorgeous architecture and I loved to decorate the houses in preparation of selling them. I had the exciting experience of having my work on an HGTV program called Bought and Sold, which was another great outlet for my creativity! Recently I've been a kitchen and bath designer where I also utilized my creative skills. Now as a Moss Artist, I feel all the elements of my past have come together to help me create beautiful art and being able to share it with you is such a great joy! I feel inspired by nature and the peaceful feeling I get from working with the moss and rocks and other elements. The designs come from within and flow to create beauty and that beauty inspires me to do it again and again.
I start with creating a solid and attractive frame with a hard back and then line it with a sheet of preserved moss. Then I layer the elements within the frame, starting with the preserved moss, then rocks, flowers, crystals and sea glass. Not all of my pieces have all of these elements. Some will just focus on the moss and natural rocks and seeds. After everything is placed, I carefully glue each piece into the frame.
